My name is Scott Flanders. I am an artist and educator with over 15 years of experience working in education and video games. Some notable clients and collaborators include: Turtle Rock Studios, Riot Games, Brainstorm School, and Proko.com.
I have been helping artists of all ages learn more about themselves and their artwork for a while now. I began formally teaching art at a local Boys & Girls Club when I was in college in 2006, and since that time I have been sharing my techniques and ideas in private art schools, research institutes, online schools, YouTube, private mentorships, workshops, and more recently through my independent online art community - the Shapecarver Discord.
I have taught hundreds of students, many of whom have gone on to excel in various creative industries including publishing, collectibles, and video games - at some of the biggest companies in the world.
I get excited about helping people 'put two and two together' in relation to themselves and their artwork.
I see every student and client like a puzzle, that I need to try to understand so I can really be of use to them.
It's fun! And I believe it is a worthwhile thing to do.
We will identify the types of projects that inspire you and enhance your productivity. We will identify your unique artistic strengths, and sensibilities. And along the way we will discuss your career and your education up to the present time, and pinpoint the steps you need to begin taking to get where you'd like to be.
One of my favorite things about teaching art is when I see the fire light up in another person's eyes - when they begin to believe that I TRULY believe in them.
Helping other artists has turned out to be one of my great passions in life, and (along with raising my son) I'm convinced it is some of the most meaningful work I will ever be involved in.
